6. THE HISTORY OF THE FAMILY NAME

The Florentine poet Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) spent several years of his exile in Verona. His son Pietro, enchanted by the beauty of the city and its countryside, decided to stay there, and in 1353 he purchased the Casal dei Ronchi estate in Gargagnago, at the heart of the Valpolicella Classica region.

For twenty-one generations, the descendants of the Sommo Poeta have lived on the estate, symbol of Venetian wine history. Masi shares with the Conti Serego Alighieri a great love for this land, supporting them for over forty years in the production of prestigious wines, heirs of a wise and ancient wine tradition.
