Among the other preparation for the coming holidays we really loved the new ideas for style in terms of Christmas table decoration and food and wine matching. The annual all-female appointment took place at Villa Serego Alighieri, in the form of a conversation between style writer Eleonora Miucci, Masi Sales Director Alessandra Boscaini, and the host at the villa, Contessa Massimilla Serego Alighieri. Many different table decoration styles were considered: from the Provecial to the traditional Scottish, right up to the gold-and-red hued Megève style. Materials and inspiration came from the Soufflè company and Floral Designer Paola Guerra. One important piece of advice from the stylists was to learn the rules well.. so that they could then be bent a little sometimes in the cause of creativity and so as to add a personal touches to each place setting.

“Wine should be drunk in good company, on a well-dressed table, with the right food accompaniment,” said Alessandra Boscaini. The lesson on the art of elegant reception and style at table also contained some points about the wine and how to pair it in a meal. Different food matches were tried out: from Masi Tupungato Passo Doble Corvina-Malbec with a saffron flavoured risotto served with powdered liquorice and dressed with gold leaf, Serego Alighieri Vaio Armaron Amarone paired with rolled peasant capon stuffed with chestnuts and sweet wild-boar sausage, to Angelorum Recioto Masi paired with the dessert, all prepared by chef Vitangelo Galluzzi  from Elite Service Group.

The secret is to choose a theme to unify the place settings and the food and wine, as our three commentators all agreed. And something that you can never go wrong with? Follow the seasons! ..This simplifies every type of food and wine matching and gets everything to match! Good-bye until the next all-female appointment at Masi!
