CCA Edition 2015

Maya Von Moos

The second edition of the Costasera Contemporary Art project was entrusted to Maya Von Moos, from Switzerland, whose talent lies in an innovative form of art - 3D computer animation - which allows her to construct every element individually and animate it to tell a story. Labels with a reproduction of her work adorn a selection of bottles of Costasera 1999.

“The label of Masi’s Costasera Amarone inspired me and opened the doors towards the opulence of Venice and the richness of the Valpolicella region. I took my inspiration from Venice itself and its artists: red from Titian, green from Veronese, blue from Tiepolo and golden yellow from the mosaics. My trip in Valpolicella showed me the magic that time performs in the transformation of grapes over the four seasons. I have sought to condense all these suggestions into a 3D animation, in a language that is new and contemporary.”

Maya Von Moos

Maya von Moos was born at Chur in Switzerland in 1953. After studying the design of china and ceramics in Japan, Korea and Taiwan, and painting and sculpture at the “Accademia di Belle Arti“ in Florence and the “Ecole des Beaux Arts” in Geneva, she came to prominence because of her experimental installation sculptures and because of her great love of colours.

After taking her degree, she moved to Zürich and concentrated on making large format sculptures in iron, lacquered with colours, using an old blacksmith’s shop as her studio.
