Notes of merit also go to the Trentino wines produced by Conti Bossi Fedrigotti and for the Canevel sparkling wines.

At the close of the harvest, the first awards start coming, recognising the quality of the Masi wines, which have once again stood out in the eyes of national and international critics alike and in the 2023 editions of the most important wine guides. In addition to the many, well-known notes of merit already awarded for the vine-growing and wine-making excellence for 2023, praise has been solid for Masi’s Amarone wines, which have now been enjoying resounding success in Italy and worldwide for decades.

In the USA, an important score was assigned to the Campolongo di Torbe 2013 “Cantina Privata Boscaini”, an elegant Masi Amarone, which had already collected Three Glasses from Gambero Rosso, 5 Bunches from Bibenda and 4 Vines from AIS Vitae in 2022, and this year receives 97/100 from the authoritative magazine, Wine Enthusiast, which also awards 94 points to the Amarone Classico Costasera 2017.

The Vaio Armaron, a valuable cru from the historic Serego Alighieri estates and already consecrated by Wine Spectator in its "Top Ten" best wines worldwide, for 2015 obtains 92/100 from DoctorWine, 95/100 from wine critic Eric Guido of Vinous and is reconfirmed amongst the best by James Suckling with 94/100. Again for James Suckling, we should also mention the unprecedented score given to Possessioni Rosso 2020 Serego Alighieri, with an incredible 92 points.

The 2016 vintage Riserva Costasera, Amarone Classico, the result of the company’s authoritative expertise in the technique of appassimento and made unique by the ancient autochthonous variety of Oseleta, is awarded Three Glasses by the “Guida Vini d'Italia”, the guide to wines of Italy produced by Gambero Rosso, along with 5 bunches from Bibenda, the DoctorWine “face” for the sore of 95/100 of the Guida Essenziale ai Vini d'Italia, signed by Daniele Cernilli and is finally also included in the Top 100 of “La Guida ai Vini di Verona” guide to wines of Verona, scheduled for release in October, to be distributed with the Verona newspaper, L’Arena.

The mentions for the Riserva Costasera 2016 also continue internationally: it is named in the Top 100 Cellar Selection 2022 produced by the authoritative American magazine Wine Enthusiast with a score of 95/100; Vinous, the publication founded by wine critic Antonio Galloni and amongst the most respected worldwide, has assigned it 95/100 points and it has also been awarded 93/100 points by the Falstaff Guide, published by the longest-running wine magazine of Austria.

Raffaele Boscaini, Masi Technical Group Coordinator and Marketing Director commented as follows: “The excellent performance recorded in the industry’s main guides and amongst international critics are even more meaningful in the year in which we celebrate our family’s 250th harvest in the Vaio dei Masi. Of the many prestigious awards received, we are particularly proud of the mentions assigned to the Riserva Costasera 2016, a majestic, complex, elegant wine characterised by the masterful use of the autochthonous varieties of Valpolicella Classica Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara and enriched by the original Oseleta, rediscovered precisely by Masi and the score of 97/100 awarded to Campolongo di Torbe, a cru that has come from a historic vineyard, whose qualities have been known since the 12th century and which is characterised by a round aroma of almonds and great intensity and balance”.

Important acknowledgements have also gone to other Masi wines: gold medal to Lunatio Lugana DOC Biologico 2021, Frescaripa Chiaretto Rosé 2021 and Masi Tupungato Passo Doble 2020 awarded by the German “Berliner Wine Trophy”; whilst the unique interpretation by Masi of the vine-growing and wine-making history of Triveneto has been confirmed for the Osar 2015, whose originality is assured by the use of Oseleta, which obtained 93 points from DoctorWine.

For Conti Bossi Fedrigotti, the Fojaneghe 2016 and the Conte Federico 2018 respectively receive 94/100 and 91/100 from DoctorWine. In addition, for the 20th edition of the Guida Vinibuoni d'Italia produced by Touring Club Italiano, the Trentino wines were mentioned on the website 20anni.vinibuoni.it, amongst the companies that have been awarded the “crowns” over the years.

Ever the jewels in the production of Canevel sparkling wines, the company based in the very heart of Valdobbiadene, the Millesimato Extra Dry 2021 obtained 93/100 from DoctorWine, while the Campofalco 2021, a valuable cru obtained from the organically-run Monfalcon vineyard has reconfirmed its presence in the guide for the second year running, this time with a score of 92/100.
