Masi at TFWA in Cannes

Masi, the historic winemaking company from Valpolicella famous for its Amarone, is one of the leading premium brands at the TFWA (Tax Free World Association) World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes, the international fair for the Duty-Free and Travel Retail sectors. Masi – located in Red Village, K6 – attends the fair again this year in the sumptuous setting of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès on Cannes  Croisette, from 29 September to 4 October, as one of the leading brands of luxury goods, which includes fashion and cosmetics, jewellery, wines and spirits, all united by their use of the Duty Free sector as a showplace and sales channel that’s steadily becoming more and more important.

Deeply rooted in the traditions of its region of origin, and at the same time employing a pioneering approach to new technologies and markets, Masi was one of the first wine companies to enter the Duty Free channel in the 1990s. Results were appreciable, soon. Today, Duty Free is one of the company’s main distribution channels, accounting not only for the sales volume generated but also for the company’s high brand positioning in a world occupied by other international luxury brands.

For TFWA 2019, Masi presents a preview of its new Duty Free baby: Moxxé Pinot Grigio Ramato Brut 2018. This rosé wine, completely “on message” for the market, has the refreshing qualities of Pinot Grigio with an unexpectedly fruity structure produced by brief appassimento (grape drying). The result is a bright salmon pink sparkling wine with a lively perlage, and delicate fruitiness on the nose with hints of berry fruit, particularly wild strawberries. Refreshing and easy to drink on the palate, but at the same time a winner thanks to its attractive hints of ripe fruit that accompany a finish that’s also decidedly dry.

Masi has developed other specifically Duty Free products over the years, all starring at the TFWA: Masi Nectar Costasera Amarone Classico, Masi Nectar Campofiorin and Canevel Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Brut “Black label”.

Furthermore, the discerning visitors of the fair in Cannes will be offered an exclusive Masi tasting at Cannes: Costasera Amarone old vintage 1988, a special release from the Cantina Privata Boscaini of Masi’s famous international flagship wine.

Starting this year with the Cantina Privata Boscaini, we are offering travellers an unforgettable experience. We’re talking of a unique collection of prestigious wines, examples of fine Crus and great vintages of Amarone, produced in limited quantities and only in the best vintages. It’s always been a Boscaini family tradition to keep back bottles of Amarone from the best vintages in their own cellars. This habit has led to the creation of one of the most important and greatest collections of old-vintage Amarones in existence.

Pier Giuseppe Torresani, Export and Travel Detail Sales Director di Masi, commented.

Another first for the 2019 fair: Masi will be one of the stars in the Wine O’clock event, the first ever seminar dedicated to wine organised by the Duty Free sector specialist magazine, Moodie Davitt Report. Date: 29 September from 16:00 to 18:00 c/o Marta Room – Hotel Majestic – 10 Boulevard de la Croisette.
