New scores from James Suckling

With the summer come new important scores from James Suckling, the famous American wine critic, who gives excellent marks to our Costasera Amarone 2015 and some new vintages for 2018, particularly: Masianco, Bonacosta and Rosa dei Masi.

Buon appetito!

Costasera 2015 – 95 pts.
A little reductive at first, but opens beautifully to reveal violets, blueberries, licorice, citrus, oyster shell and orange rind. So velvety and polished, but with real depth and structure. Medium-to-full-bodied with delightful fruit and a long finish. Drink in 2021.

Masianco 2018 – 90 pts.
A fresh and easy white with sliced lemon and lime character. Medium body. Crisp finish. Screw cap.

Bonacosta 2018 – 89 pts.
Tangy and bright with sliced-apples, cherries and hints of watermelon. Light body. Fresh finish. Drink now.

Rosa dei Masi 2018 – 88 pts.
The candied fruit is a little obvious here with lots of ripe raspberry fool. Full-bodied and dense. Some drinkability, but rather heavy-handed. Drink now. Screw cap.
