Oseleta: the grape rediscovered by Masi

Masi Wine Bar Munich, Munich, Thursday, 23rd November at 7.00 pm

A special tasting dinner dedicated to the “Black Label” wines

Oseleta is an ancient variety of Verona grape rediscovered by Masi in the 1980s. Its cultivation had been abandoned due to the extremely low yield. Sandro Boscaini was lucky enough to taste an important red from a small producer in Valpolicella, which particularly impressed him with its complexity and intensity of colour, surprising him even more with the unusually small size of the grape bunches used to make it.

Today, Masi uses Oseleta to enrich the structure and tannins of the wines starring here tonight: the surprising “Valpolicella Classico of tomorrow”, Toar, the elegant Rosso Veronese Brolo Campofiorin, the complex yet exuberant Amarone Riserva Costasera, accompanied by specially designed dishes.

Wines for tasting:

  • Toar – Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC
  • Brolo Campofiorin – Rosso Verona IGT
  • Riserva Costasera – Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG Riserva

Menu:

  • Chestnut pie, Monte Veronese cheese fondue, crispy bacon and Toar wine drops
  • Risotto with Brolo Campofiorin and pumpkin
  • Roasted lamb chops, spicy beet, potato croquette and Costasera Amarone wine reduction
  • Grappa di Mezzanella mousse, chocolate crumble and almond pralines
  • Water and espresso
